Hier ist eine wahrhaft eindringliche Akustik-Session mit dem neuen Song "dear insecurity"
"dear insecurity", liebe Unsicherheit – in seiner neuen Single entschließt sich gnash, seine inneren Ängste auf die denkbar direkteste Weise zu adressieren: er schreibt ihnen einen Brief. "Dear insecurity", fragt er, "When you gonna take your hands off me? / When you ever gonna let me be / Proud of who I am?".
Für das Format "The Eye" hat der 25-Jährige nun eine intime Akustik-Version des Songs gespielt, bei der die Kamera ganz nah an ihm dran ist und eindringliche Schwarzweiß-Aufnahmen liefern. "Some days, when I wake up I see myself in the mirror / I feel like what shouldn’t be couldn’t be clearer / My nose to my clothes, from my chin to my skin / I'll never be good enough ever again" – mit seinen Worten dürfte gnash vielen von uns aus dem Herzen sprechen. Umso ermutigender ist es, dass er im Verlauf von "dear insecurity" zu einer Haltung der Selbstakzeptanz gelangt – und am Ende den Ball schlicht zurückspielt in Richtung der fiesen Unsicherheit: "Take a moment to be thankful for the reasons that you're blessed / It’s not about mistakes you made or failures that you had / It’s all about the memories & little things you have / Your freckles and flaws to your body and bruises / Your scars to your beautiful birth marks, the truth is / We’re one in the same."
