In seinem neuen Song "Every Time You’re High" erzählt Billy Lockett davon, wie Beziehungen aus dem Gleichgewicht geraten, weil einer vom anderen abhängig wird: "Trust me I'm with you for all that you are / And you know that I’ve got your back / But right now I need you to look in your heart", beschwört er die diffuse Gefahr über wunderschön schwelgende Piano-Melodien. Das Ergebnis ist eine Enttäuschung, die schmerzt. Denn das Gegenüber dreht sich nur um sich selbst: "Every time you’re high / I'm always forgotten in your bloodshot eyes / Every time you're high / One day I'm your lover then you say goodbye", stellt Lockett ernüchtert fest, während dazu der Beat und die Melodien des Songs an Intensität zunehmen.

"Der Song handelt von ständigen Alpträumen, Abhängigkeit zu bekämpfen – ein Problem in meinem Leben, das ich stets zu verstecken versuchte, doch der Song purzelte aus mir heraus und ich realisierte, dass ich ihn veröffentlichen muss", kommentierte der Singer-Songwriter im Post unten zur Veröffentlichung des Songs. Und darunter: "Normalerweise ist es mit meinen Songs so, dass ich so lange an ihnen arbeite, dass ich bereits von ihnen gelangweilt bin, wenn sie veröffentlicht werden. Doch dieser versetzt mich immer noch in Aufregung jedes Mal, wenn ich ihn spiele! Das muss ein gutes Zeichen sein, oder? Ich habe so viele gemischte Gefühle von Nerven und Aufregung, was ich aber sicher weiß: ich liebe diesen Song und hoffe, ihr werdet es auch."

Okay guys this is pretty exciting‼️My new single "Every Time You're High" is out now on all streaming platforms. The song is about the constant nightmares of battling addiction, this has been a problem in my life which I've always tried to hide but the song just fell out of me and I realised I had to release it. I think this is the most nervous I've been about releasing a song because it's the most honest thing I've ever written. Please do let me know what you think of it in the comments below. ‼️ It's been a long time coming but I'm so pleased to tell you I have a new song coming to yours ears next week called "Every Time You're High"‼️Since finishing the Lewis Capaldi tour I've been kinda quiet so I apologise for that but I just wanted to make sure the next thing I release really is something special.
