"One of my favourites", sagt Frontmann Yannis Philippakis zum neuen Song "Into The Surf"

Bevor der neue Foals-Song "Into The Surf" gestern Abend bei Zane Lowe (Beats 1) Premiere feierte, schrieb Frontmann Yannis Philippakis in einem Post: "One of my favourites", und Bandkollege Jack Begann kündigte seinerseits an: "Time for a sad one". Was diese Gedanken in der Summe ergeben, könnt ihr nun unten selbst anhören, in Form des neuen Songs "Into The Surf", der sich mit einer geliebten Person beschäftigt, die von einer Reise nicht zurückkehrt.

Im Interview mit DIY erklärte Philippakis vor wenigen Tagen dazu: "There are threads that run through all these [final] songs, and on ‘Into the Surf’ there’s this shadow of death, of someone not returning from a voyage. There’s a type of Greek folk song that’s always to do with the immigration of Greek people and how dying on foreign shores is always viewed as the worst fate."

Yannis war zudem so zuvorkommend und hat die Song-Lyrics direkt aus den Notizen seines Telefons geposted:

"Into The Surf" ist ein Song des kommenden Albums "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost (Part 2)", das am 18. Oktober erscheint und auf das im März veröffentlichte "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1" folgt, das als "Best Album" beim renommierten britischen Mercury Prize nominiert war.
