Neues Studioalbum nach 5 Jahren: Am 21. Februar erscheint "From This Place"

"From This Place ist eines dieser Alben, die ich schon mein gesamtes Leben machen wollte" – so sagt Pat Metheny über sein neues Werk, dessen Veröffentlichung der vielfach Grammy-ausgezeichnete Gitarrist nun angekündigt hat. "From This Place" erscheint am 21. Februar und ist Pat Methenys erstes neues Studioalbum seit "Kin (←→)" vor fünf Jahren. Den ersten Track "America Undefined" gibt es schon heute – siehe unten. Im Mai 2020 stellt er seine neuen Songs live in Deutschland vor. 

Das Werk entstand in neuer Besetzung: neben Methenys langjährigem Drummer Antonio Sanchez wirken Gwilym Simcock (Piano), Linda May Han Oh (Bass) sowie das Hollywood Studio Symphony unter Leitung von Joel McNeely mit, Special Guests sind Meshell Ndegeocello, Gregoire Maret und Luis Conte.

"It is a kind of musical culmination, reflecting a wide range of expressions that have interested me over the years, scaled across a large canvas, presented in a way that offers the kind of opportunities for communication that can only be earned with a group of musicians who have spent hundreds of nights together on the bandstand", erklärt Metheny, wieso "From This Place" für ihn einen besonderen Stellenwert besitzt.
