Der Garage-gefärbte Song "how i’m feeling now" macht richtig Lust aufs Album am Freitag
Wenn es einem emotional schlecht geht, ist es viel wert, wenn wenigstens der Partner einen versteht und auffängt: "Baby, I love you bad / 'Cause lately I finally understand / That maybe this feeling that I've found / Might kill me, put me in the ground", singt Charli XCX im neuen Song "i finally understand" des kommenden Albums "how i’m feeling now" über einen messerscharfen, Garage-gefärbten Beat, den ihr langjähriger Producer-Freund A.G. Cook gemeinsam mit Mechatok beigesteuert hat.
Im Interview mit Zane Lowe (Beats 1) berichtete Charli XCX, dass sich der Song im Grunde darum dreht, wie sie und ihr Boyfriend die letzten Wochen gemeinsame in Quarantäne verbrachten: "We’re quarantined together, and our relationship wasn’t in a brilliant place prior to quarantine. I’m not going to say at the end of the road, but close to it — we were living on separate sides of the country, and even though we were physically far apart, we were emotionally quite distant as well", so die Britin, die in dieser Hinsicht dankbar für die verrückten letzten Wochen ist: "I’m extremely lucky that [quarantine] has brought us physically close together — because now we’re living in the same house — but also emotionally, and I finally understand that this person is somebody who I can trust with my life and I will have my security and protection at the front point of their heart no matter what. So that’s what it’s about, very emo."
Und für mindestens eine weitere Sache war der Lockdown gut: Charli XCX erschafft ihr komplettes Album "how I’m feeling now" in häuslicher Selbstisolation. Diesen Freitag (15. Mai) erscheint es.
