"Oh love won’t you stay?", fragt John-Robert sein Mädchen, doch die scheint sich da nicht mehr so sicher zu sein. "Don’t you say that I was ever / Less to you than a lover boy", singt er, zwischen Hoffen und Bangen schwankend. "Love Won't You Stay" ist ein Song der frisch erschienenen Debüt-EP "Bailey Barely Knew Me" des hochgradig talentierten Singer-Songwriters, der trotz seiner 19 Jahre klingt, als hätte er schon ein langes und ereignisreiches Leben hinter sich. Definitiv mehr als nur "a lover boy"!

John-Robert erklärt zu dem Song: "I wrote ‘Love Won’t You Stay’ when I was at a crossroad, searching for a sense of identity and purpose. At the time I was confused and frustrated to find myself between high school, and college, with no job; no plan. I began questioning my sheltered understanding of sex, drugs, and religion, while recognizing my co-dependent tendencies.”

Mit seiner Debüt-EP "Bailey Barely Knew Me" öffnet John-Robert nach seinen bisherigen Songs wie "Urs", ""Adeline" und "Pelican" das nächste Kapitel und erspielt sich seinen Platz als eine neue Art von Troubadour für das 21. Jahrhundert. Wie gut John-Robert auch ist, wenn er Songs anderer Künstler covert, seht ihr unten mit seiner Interpretation von "Criminal", Fiona Apples Grammy-ausgezeichneter Durchbruch-Song von 1996. I’ve been anticipating the release of this EP for the better part of two years, yet waking up to it out this morning still got me dizzy and emotionally overwhelmed.
