Jack Harlow kommentiert: "WHATS POPPIN" erschien zu Beginn dieses historischen Jahres und seitdem ist nichts mehr so, wie es mal war, für mich ebenso wie die Welt. Ich wusste, dass dieser Song besonders ist, doch er dehnt meinen inneren Kreis und die Erwartungen fortwährend weiter aus. DaBaby und Tory Lanez für den Song zu gewinnen, ist sehr aufregend, besonders, weil sie beide abgeliefert haben. Doch Lil Wayne dabeizuhaben, ist die Erfüllung eines Traumes. Einer für die Bucketlist. Das hier ist auch für den Ort, aus dem ich komme – Louisville, Kentucky. Es ist ein Moment, auf den meine gesamte Stadt und mein Bundesstaat stolz sein können, auch und gerade in dieser schwierigen Zeit. Danke an all meine Fans, dass ihr bisher an meiner Seite wart, ohne euch würde all das nicht existieren. Weiter geht’s, den Blick fest nach vorn."

Neben dem Erfolg von "WHATS POPPIN” hielt sich Jack auch während der Quarantäne im Gespräch und veröffentlichte Kollaborationen mit G-Eazy ("Moana") und Smokepurp ("Tide Pen"), außerdem steuerte er neue eigene Musik zu Soundtracks bei, darunter „Yikes” für den jüngsten Scooby-Doo-Film, SCOOB! und „Automatic”, der Lead-Song des mit Spannung erwarteten Soundtracks zum Game Madden NFL 21, in dessen offiziellem Trailer der Track auch zu hören ist:

I remember playing NBA Live 08 when I was in 4th grade, and ‘88’ by The Cool Kids was on the soundtrack. It was the first time I had heard of them and I recall stealing lyrics from the song and rapping them on the bus to my classmates, acting like they were mine. Thanks to that song being included in the game, I ended up diving into The Cool Kids’ work, and growing up a huge fan of Chuck Inglish’s production. You can hear his influence in a lot of the beats I’ve chosen to this day (Sundown, Cody Banks, Ghost). Fast forward a decade or so later...it’s the end of 2017, and I’m in the studio with one of my favorite producers of all time, that very man, @oldinglish. We ended up making a song called Automatic. I’ve teased it, considered dropping it, even been pressed by my Mom to put it out. Chuck and I would go back and forth about releasing it, but I just didn’t feel like it fit any of the past projects. It was beginning to feel like it may never come out, when suddenly @eamaddennfl got ahold of it this year and they were immediately interested. I just got off the phone with Chuck and we were talking about how this song has so much unintentional gridiron flavor. I’m proud to say that life has come full circle, and Chuck and I’s first song together is not only on the Madden 21 soundtrack, but is the lead song, playing in the trailer above. I grew up playing Madden so this is something I always fantasized about. Not to mention the Louisville legend @new_era8 is the face and cover of the game. Thank you.
