Diesen Freitag erscheint das neue Album "Death Of A Party" von The Magic Gang. Das will zelebriert werden: Kommenden Dienstag laden die Briten ab 18 Uhr um großen "Death Of The Live Stream"-Event bei YouTube und Facebook, bei dem die Band aus Brighton sieben Stunden lang Anrufe der Fans entgegennimmt und sich allerlei unterhaltsame Aktionen ausgedacht hat, unter anderem eine virtuelle Karaoke-Session und einen Roy-Orbison-Tribut-Act. 

Zur der Sause hat die Band sich diverse befreundete Künstler eingeladen: Sports Team, das ehemalige Maccabees-Bandmitglied Felix White, Cavan McCarthy von Swim Deep, Fred Macpherson von Spector und Justin Young von The Vaccines. 

"Remember when everybody and their dog was live streaming at the start of lockdown?", kommentierten The Magic Gang. "Live streams have well and truly died a death, but we thought we’d send them off in style. This really is the death of the live stream, a load of friends trying to fill seven hours with karaoke, chat and most importantly, taking calls from fans and trying to flog them our album."

The Magic Gang näherten sich ihrem neuen Album mit zwei Zielsetzungen. Sie wollten den Fokus ihres harmonisch reichen, melodiefokussierten Pop um Elemente aus Northern Soul, Power-Pop und Post-Punk erweitern. Und inspiriert von Lou Reed, Alex Turner und besonders Jonathan Richman sollten ihre Lyrics eine stärker beobachtende Haltung einnehmen.
