Kiiara tut sich mit DeathbyRomy und PVRIS für die Emo-Hymne "Numb" zusammen
Für ihren neuen Song "Numb" hat sich Kiiara mit zwei gleichgesinnten Kolleginnen zusammengetan: DeathbyRomy und PVRIS. Das Ergebnis ist eine Emo-Hymne, die davon handelt, dass manche Menschen einen immer dann ausnutzen, wenn man sich am wenigsten wehren kann: "You show up when I'm all alone / When I'm stuck in this zone / When I'm falling in faster than I breathe", singt Kiiara im Refrain über düstere elektronische Beats.
"Too many people have tried to control me over the years and it had taken a toll on me", erklärt die 25-Jährige über die Inspiration zu dem Song. "I was exhausted from trying to explain myself and it felt as if people would wait for me to be at my weakest and most vulnerable to swoop in and manipulate my view on things. It was debilitating and I felt like I was in a tunnel all alone", berichtet sie.
Mit genau diesem Gefühl können sich auch DeathbyRomy und PVRIS identifizieren: "When Kiiara asked me to jump on this song and I heard the production, I knew I’d kill it so I had to", kommentiert DeathbyRomy, und fügt an: "Not to mention, three badass women on one song? No brainer." PVRIS war ähnlich begeistert: "At the start of quarantine Kiiara sent the track over and I immediately loved the vibe and was excited to hop on the track."
