"Yeah, I can be a burden, baby, I can be a psycho", macht nothing,nowhere in seinem neuen Song "pretend" keinen Hehl daraus, dass er manchmal eine ganz schöne Zumutung sein kann. Aber kein Wunder: "Life just keeps on hitting me", berichtet er, und kündigt zugleich trotzig an: "I swear that I'mma fight though". Daher bittet er seine Partnerin inständig, zu ihm zu halten: "Tell me you'll stay now / Even if you won't / Baby, we can play pretend".

"pretend" kombiniert Einflüsse aus Hip-Hop-Flows, Pop-Punk-Klängen und Emo-Gesang zu der für den Künstler typischen Mischung. nothing,nowhere kommentiert: "'pretend’ is about looking back while simultaneously trying to heal.
