Im Musikvideo zu "Wassup" schlägt sich Cordae als Underground-Boxer durch, gemanagt von Young Thug
Beim Rappen spricht man davon, Punchlines zu setzen – eine Box-Analogie, die Cordae im Musikvideo zu "Wassup" wörtlich nimmt. In dem Clip spielt der MC einen Boxer, der sich in Underground-Kämpfen mit diversen finsteren Gestalten misst. Angepeitscht wird er dabei von Young Thug, der im Track gastiert und im Video seinen geldgierigen Manager spielt. Unten gibt es das Musikvideo zu sehen, bei dem Matt Earl Regie führte.
Young Thug ist neben Q-Tip einer von zwei hochkarätigen Gästen auf der aktuellen EP "Just Until…" von Cordae, die der Rapper als Prolog zu seinem kommenden Album "From A Bird’s Eye View" verstanden wissen will: "The idea behind the Just Until… four-pack was just to put out some collection of some high level loosies, you know what I’m saying? And just to hold fans over till I finished this album really", sagte der 23-Jährige kürzlich gegenüber Ebro Darden bei Apple Music.
In dem Gespräch äußerte sich Cordae auch über die Zusammenarbeit mit Rap-Superstar Future, den einen "master of cadence" nennt: "We did that joint one of the first nights we was in the studio just linking up. And we just sitting down in a control room going back and forth and it’s incredible with Thug, this n***a is a master of cadence, flow and being able to create high level music at an extremely fast pace. And he would stop what the engineer doing and shift the vocals and put a certain EQ and compressor on a vocal so I’m just so impressed by that as well. I tell Thug all the time I told him this in person, I’ll say it right now too. I feel like when it’s all said and done, he definitely belongs in the rock and roll hall of fame for sure."
