Neil Young kündigt Re-Issue des CD-Boxsets "Archives Vol. I: 1963-1972" an

Blickt man im Nachhinein auf die Anfänge einer Musikerkarriere zurück, ist das aus mindestens zweierlei Hinsicht spannend: Man kann noch einmal eintauchen in die damalige Zeit – und man kann aus diesen Anfängen Rückschlüsse darauf ziehen, wie sie musikalisch all das geprägt haben, was danach kam. So auch bei „Archives Vol. I: 1963-1972“, dem ersten Boxset aus der Reihe von Archivaufnahmen, die auf Neil Youngs Karriere zurückblicken. Das niemals endende musikalische Abenteuer von Neil Young, seine Klangwelten und sein Spirit – hier hatte all das seinen Anfang.

„Neil Young Archives Vol. I: 1963-1972“ wurde ursprünglich am 2. Juni 2009 in drei Formaten veröffentlicht: Eine Deluxe-Edition mit 10 Discs auf Blu-Ray oder DVD und eine mit CD-Box mit 8 Discs.

Die 8-CD-Box ist seit über einem Jahrzehnt vergriffen und wird nun in ihrem ursprünglichen Format neu aufgelegt – eingefasst im „Garypak“, einer einzigartigen Hülle, die von Youngs langjährigem Art Director entworfen wurde, dem inzwischen verstorbenen Gary Burden. Jede CD hat in ihre eigene, individuell gestaltete Hülle. „Neil Young Archives Vol. I: 1963-1972“ wird im Young's Greedy Hand Online Store, im Musikhandel und bei den meisten DSPs erhältlich sein. Als das Boxset 2009 auf den Markt kam, waren 13 der Songs noch nie zuvor veröffentlicht worden. Weitere 34 Titel waren bis dato unveröffentlichte Live- oder Alternativversionen. Das Repertoire deckt das erste Jahrzehnt von Neil Youngs Karriere ab, einschließlich Material von den Squires, Buffalo Springfield, Crazy Horse, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young und seinen frühen Soloalben.

Abgerundet wird das Boxset von einem 24-seitigen Booklet und einem großen ausklappbaren „Archives“-Poster.
