Die neuen Apple Music Awards ehren Lizzo als "Breakthrough Artist of the Year"
Apple vergibt in diesem Jahr erstmals die Apple Music Awards. In fünf Kategorien werden die größten musikalischen Errungenschaften des Jahres honoriert – und Lizzo darf natürlich nicht fehlen. Die Musikerin wird als "Breakthrough Artist of the Year" ausgezeichnet und für ihre einzigartige Kombination aus "bawdy rap and brassy soul" gewürdigt (siehe Post unten). "This rap and soul supernova redefined the terms and image of pop stardom", heißt es in der Urteilsbegründung, und: "Lizzo’s joyful, bawdy message of self-love is the perfect soundtrack — or antidote — to 2019." Lizzo bedankt sich unten im Post: "I’m so honored to receive the award!!!"
Neben Lizzo werden Billie Eilish und Lil Nas X mit Apple Music Awards ausgezeichnet:
Artist of the Year: Billie Eilish
Songwriter of the Year: Billie Eilish & FINNEAS
Album of the Year: Billie Eilish — WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
Breakthrough Artist of the Year: Lizzo
Song of the Year: Lil Nas X — “Old Town Road”
Die Gewinner werden "durch einen Prozess ausgewählt, der die redaktionelle Perspektive des [Streaming-]Services wiedergibt, kombiniert mit dem, was Kunden rund um die Welt am meisten lieben", wie es im offiziellen Statement von Apple heißt.
Vor wenigen Tagen erst wurde Lizzo 8-fach für die kommenden Grammy Awards nominiert – so oft wie kein anderer Künstler (m/w) des Jahres.
